ArcticKnows
ArcticKnows is a Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action (RIA) that aims to empower Coastal, Local and Indigenous Communities (CLICs) across the Arctic to co-create regenerative, just and inclusive economies.
Arctic communities are facing increasing challenges, including climate change and climate-related vulnerabilities, extractive economic models and mindsets, lack of recognition and, in some cases, appropriation of Indigenous and local knowledge and limited participation of women, youth and marginalised groups in decision-making process.
ArcticKnows responds to these challenges by fostering just, decolonial and inclusive knowledge co-creation processes that bring together communities, researchers, policymakers, businesses and civil society actors. The project adopts a more-than-human perspective, recognising that Arctic livelihoods are shaped not only by human actors but also by animals, ecosystems, seasons, weather patterns and material environments.
